Well, where do I start? It appears I've signed up yet another painfully long cycle ride across another country to raise money for charity. The thought of raising a little bit of money for those in need is often the driving factor for a fundraising led activity and this ride is no different. The challenge is a 600 mile ride…

One of the many surprises we encountered whilst travelling around New Zealand was the beautiful tree church in Ohaupo, a few miles South of Hamilton on the North Island. The Church is a botanical wonder of interwoven branches and flowers and the masterpiece of local Barry Cox. Now, I'm sure you'd expect to be 'inside' when you step through the door…

So here we are, the beginning of our 3 week long New Zealand road trip! We left the UK in the evening of Boxing Day and after 24 hours of flights via Hong Kong we landed in Auckland on New Zealand's North Island. The flights were long but Cathay Pacific did a great job looking after us with 2 meals,…

This time of year is probably my favourite. Providing it doesn't rain, and isn't too cold (both very likely) then there's nothing quite like heading out just before sunset and walking through the fields or the woods as an Autumn mist creeps over the horizon. One of the many adventures planned for the near future is a 3 week excursion to New Zealand over the new year; needless to say, I am very excited! New Zealand is such a beautiful country with incredible views wherever you look, the people are so friendly and the whole place has such a nice feel to it - I can't wait!…

Earlier this year, I took a 620 mile trip down the west coast of the USA with a group from Cry in the Dark & Indigo Volunteers. The weather was hot (on the most part) and the breezes were most welcome after hot climbs through The Big Sur. You can read more here. We cycled through early morning mists as the…

SEPTEMBER

There are plenty of reasons to dislike September; it’s the start of the Autumn, the beginning of cold, short, dark days, not to mention the end of Summer! In a truly British style, we always complain about the weather, but September just doesn’t make it’s mind up. Is it warm enough for shorts? Too warm for a jumper? Exactly. Weather…

This past weekend I travelled up to Mundesley in Norfolk to see the parents who had been holidaying for a week. I woke up early on Saturday morning and wandered down to the nearby beach. There's something very serene about walking by the waves as the sun peaks over the horizon.

I had the privilege to join Cry in the Dark in Romania once again this Summer and support some of the work the charity does to help local communities in the country. Whilst it's only a week, it's quite amazing what impact the team's work had over such a short period of time. It sounds corny, but a group of ordinary…
