I thought as a little post pay-day treat I would wander into Ipswich and see what the Town could offer me for lunch. Usually I’d sit at my desk in the office and munch away on dry rolls feeling contempt with Vegemite; if I was feeling particularly adventurous I would add cheese as well! I do often crave something with a little more, well ‘foodiness’ to it; a bit more substance.

There’s a lovely little bistro cafe in Ipswich called Arlingtons Brasserie; serves cafe style lunches, cooked breakfasts, and evening meals. May I say the flat whites are particularly yummy too!

For lunch I went for a simple yet delectable sandwich – I find sometimes food tries to do too much & there’s so many flavours it feels like I’ve just eaten ever flavour jelly beans.
I had an egg and giant watercress sandwich in granary bread. There was plenty of filling in each triangle & the egg mayonnaise was spot on! On the side was a generous helping of coleslaw & salad (with a delicious dressing) as well as an unexpected portion of crisps – this was a nice surprise! The food arrived quickly, which was welcome because of my short lunch break & everyone was very friendly.

Of course, the coffee lover I am, I had to go for a flat white to complement the food & whilst not the prettiest, it was more than made up for with a full flavour and a cheeky biscuit in the side!
Whilst it’s not the cheapest place in the world, nor in Ipswich, Arlingtons is well worth a visit; I’ve been before for breakfast, yet to try an evening meal, but the food is delicious and you definitely get value for money!
